Laithwaites and Naked Wines triumph at awards
Laithwaites has won the All Round Best Business Award 2011 at the Direct Commerce Awards organised by home shopping organisation ECMOD.
The direct-to-consumer wine retailer beat hundreds of other UK businesses to win the award in the annual sales £75 million+ business-to-customer category.
Laithwaites’ UK managing director Glenn Caton said: "I’m delighted. The award is the result of a hard working, determined and knowledgeable team who continue to source great value, interesting wines, and deliver superb service to our loyal customers."
Meanwhile, online wine retailer Naked Wines scooped the Best All Round Business Award in the £5m-£10m business-to-consumer category.
Founder Rowan Gormley attributed the win to his Naked Wine Angels, saying: “The only reason we won this award is because of the support of our 50,000 Naked Wine Angels.
“Between them, they invest £1m a month to support our network of independent winemakers, who otherwise wouldn’t have a UK market.”
Other ECMOD winners, which span multi-channel retail sectors, include Boden, Ironmongery Direct, and Thompson and Morgan.
