Ruta 40 signs up for Fine Wine Fair 2011
Europe’s first dedicated supplier of boutique Argentinean wine will be showing their collection at this year’s Fine Wine Fair in October.
The company, run by Englishman Christian Rothhardt, was only founded this year in January and brings 77 different wines from 11 independent bodegas in Argentina directly to the UK for sale via the internet.
Each bodega is individually visited, and each wine tasted, before they are selected for the company’s portfolio.
Ruta 40’s ethos matches that of the Fine Wine Fair, focusing on quality and personality above all.
Though the company only started trading officially in January 2011, the foundations were laid in 2009 when Rothhardt went on what he describes as a “life-changing trip” to Argentina.
He travelled along Ruta 40, the longest road in Argentina, which passes through all the major wine producing areas of the country.
Fostering a passion not only for the country but also giving a clear insight into the variety that exists between the regions, Rothhardt’s trip down Ruta 40 was a turning point in his life.
