Punch launches new pub concept
Punch Taverns is to press ahead with the roll-out of a new wet-led pub format under the banner The Original Pub Company.
The concept is targeted at sites in urban locations across the country.
It currently operates around 75 such sites in various cities and towns across the UK and the pubs will be re-badged under the Original Pub Company name, with a new logo appearing on the menus and digital marketing material.
Although food will not be the prime focus of the venues, a cut-price menu will be introduced whereby a burger and chips will cost around £5. Each site will offer a consistent drinks menu.
Each pub under the new umbrella will keep their original names and will screen live sport, with some offering 3D screenings such as the Raynes Park Tavern in south west London, which was the first pub in the country to screen a live football match in 3D.
Clive Briscoe, marketing director at Punch Pub Company, said: “The Original Pub Company format will play an important role in our ongoing concept strategy.
"This is a drinks-orientated, value proposition aimed at urban workers, which satisfies a number of different occasions during the day, whether that is linked to drink, food or live sport.”
