Ornellaia gets Horn treatment
Tenuta Dell’Ornellaia has unveiled a limited number of large format special editions of the 2008 Ornellaia featuring interlocking copper arms and mirrors.
The design by German artist Rebecca Horn forms part of the Bolgheri estate’s Vendemmia D’Artista project which sees limited editions of Ornellaia wines auctioned for charity.
Fourteen of 111 collectible bottles from the 2008 vintage will go under the hammer on 19 May at a gala dinner at Berlin’s Neue Nationalgalerie.
During the evening, Christiane Gräfin zu Rantzau, chairman of Christie’s Germany, will conduct the charitable auction of a Salmanazar, three Imperials, and 10 double magnums.
Rebecca Horn is most famous for her body modifications such as Einhorn, a body-suit with a large horn projecting vertically from the headpiece, and Pencil Mask, a mesh head harness with pencils projecting out.
