New Waldorf Astoria opens its doors
After months of delay, the Waldorf Astoria has opened its second UK luxury hotel, London Syon Park.
Set within 200 acres of West London parkland belonging to the Duchy of Northumberland, the hotel positions itself as offering the best of town and country, located just seven miles from both Hyde Park Corner and London Heathrow airport.
The hotel’s features include access to 40 acres of private garden, a live butterfly wall in the lobby, 11 spa treatment rooms and five different food and drink offers, overseen by executive chef Lee Streeton and food & beverage manager Erick Kervaon.
The extensive grounds not only offer guests a point of difference from other London luxury hotels, but also allow Streeton to grow much of his own produce for the kitchen. In keeping with this, the hotel’s flagship restaurant, The Capability, has a British-led menu, while the Peacock Alley Martini bar makes its own vermouth.
Robbie Bargh, founder of Gorgeous Group, which worked with hotel owners The Ability Group on developing Syon Park’s entire bar and restaurant concept, summed up the character of the venue: “There’s town meets country, playful luxury, the Waldorf Astoria’s iconic American luxury, the amazing heritage of Syon Park and what’s in season in terms of food and cocktail ingredients.”
The Waldorf Astoria is planning to open a further two new venues this year in Berlin and Jerusalem.
