Naked Wine Angels bring Argentinian producer to the UK
Online wine retailer Naked Wines has commissioned five new Argentinian wines by boutique Uco Valley producer Mauricio Lorca.
The new range, exclusive to the Norwich-based retailer, was made possible through customer funding via the Naked Angels scheme.
“Since launching in December 2008, our Angel customers have helped us fund 22 winemakers who were looking to break into the UK or go it alone,” said Naked Wines founder Rowan Gormley.
“Between them, they invest over £1 million a month to unearth new winemaking talent, and they leapt at the chance of supporting Mauricio, who was making fantastic wines on a very small scale.
They singled Mauricio out at the London International Wine Fair in 2009, and within two years our Angels helped him increase his production by 70%.”
The five new wines include a Torrontes, a reserve Malbec and a Malbec/Syrah blend.
Naked Angels support upcoming winemakers by investing £20 a month towards their next order from the Naked Wines website. In exchange, Naked Wines gives them 33% cash back on every order they place.
