Hip Hoptimum makes waves
Hop heads are hailing the arrival of Sierra Nevada’s limited release Imperial IPA – Hoptimum.
Launched in the US in January 2011, this intensely hopped IPA really packs a punch and is the result of the famous brewing company being challenged by publicans and those who love hops to push the extremes of whole-cone hop brewing.
The California-based brewer has used a combination of hop varieties to create bold flavours and intense aromas in a beer that boasts an abv of 10.4%.
Steve Holt, managing director of Vertical Drinks Ltd, has been established as the importer, marketer and distributor of Sierra Nevada Pale Ale in the UK and the rest of Europe since 2004.
He said: “Hoptimum, as you would expect, has plenty of hop bitterness, but this is balanced by the full body and wonderful citrus flavours.
"Initial feedback from our customers has been excellent – it is not a beer for everyone, but for those who enjoy an intensely flavoured IPA, then Hoptimum certainly delivers”.
