First English white for Tesco Finest
Denbies Wine Estate, in Dorking, Surrey, has released its English White 2011, the first English wine to be produced exclusively for the Tesco Finest range.
A blend of Ortega, Reichensteiner and Chardonnay, Tesco Finest English White, priced at £8.49, is a dry wine aimed to pair well with dressed crab, lobster, chicken or fish.
A tasting note from the Tesco website promises: “Traditional English orchard flavours of apples and pears complemented by subtle notes of freshly cut grass, elderflower and fruit-blossom encapsulating the juicy bite of a fresh-picked English apple.”
"Being selected by one of the world’s largest retailers to join their Finest range represents a significant milestone for Denbies and English wines in general,” said Christopher White, general manager of Denbies Wine Estate.
Established in 1986, the 107-hectare, family owned and run Denbies Wine Estate is England’s largest vineyard, representing over 10% of UK plantings.
