Beaujolais masterclass focuses on 2009
The penultimate Beaujolais masterclass given by Isabelle Legeron MW took place last night in Oxford, where Legeron spoke to a packed room at the Randolph Hotel about the region, its terroirs, vinification and appellations.
The line-up of 18 wines included samples of all 10 crus, Beaujolais Villages and even the hard-to-find Beaujolais Blanc.
Although the tasting focused on the “fantastic” 2009 vintage, there were a couple of 2008 examples to show the mixed crowd of trade and amateurs that a couple of years in bottle can do wonders for Beaujolais.
The final Beaujolais masterclass will be held on Monday 7 February at Hotel du Vin, Tunbridge Wells from 8.30pm – 10.30pm.
