Invivo signs with Codorniu UK

Boutique New Zealand producer Invivo wines has signed an exclusive on- and off-trade distribution agreement with Spanish firm Grupo Codorníu – one of the largest producers of sparkling wine in the world.

Founded three years ago by school friends Rob Cameron and Tim Lightbourne, Invivo produces premium wines in Marlborough and Central Otago.

“We look forward to bringing our fresh approach to the UK market”, Lightbourne said.

The Invivo range, including a Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Gris and Rosé, and a Central Otago Pinot Noir, will be available from Grupo Codorníu from February.

The recently launched low calorie Bella by Invivo, a 9% abv Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc with a nutrition table on the back label, will also hit UK shelves at the same time.

“We felt there was a niche for lower alcohol premium wine that can be enjoyed at lunch, and are targeting health conscious consumers monitoring their alcohol intake,” said Lightbourne.

Grupo Codorníu owns wineries throughout Spain, including Bodegas Bilbianas in Rioja, Scala Dei in Priorat and Raimat in Costers del Segre, along with Bodega Septima in Mendoza, Argentina.

“Our aim is to broaden our existing portfolio, by building a highly focused, premium quality range of wines from around the world”, said Nick Mantella, managing director of Grupo Codorníu .

“Invivo Wines has built an incredible pedigree of quality in a very short time, and fits perfectly with this strategy,” Mantella added.
