Galvin team feeling sweet
Sommelier and pastry chef team, Andrea Briccarello and Daniel Fancett of London’s Galvin La Chapelle, will represent the UK at the Wines of Roussillon Dessert Trophy European Final in Perpignan.
The duo will compete with seven European countries to create a citrus dessert and Roussillon Vin Doux Naturel pairing.
The event, now in its fourth year, will be held on 24 January at the Mediterranean Muscat Wine Fair, which runs from Saturday 22 to Monday 24 January.
Last year’s competition was won by the UK, with Le Manoir aux Quat’Saisons taking home the trophy.
Aside from the contest, the Perpignan-based wine fair will include:
• A wine tasting showcase “les clés du vin”
• Muscat tastings (including “The World of Muscats” and “Le Muscat de Passito de Pantelleria”)
• Vertical tastings of Vins Doux Naturels spanning 100 years (1875–1975)
• Culinary workshops hosted by Roussillon "Toques Blanches" chefs
• A business convention
• A conference on the recent technical innovations introduced to vineyards and the winemaking process
