Oddbins creates convenience arm

Oddbins is branching out into the convenience sector by launching its own range of mini stores, named Oddies. The stores are said to combine “the quality of Oddbins with local convenience.”

Launching with its own logo (pictured) and a range of 450 wines, the stores are said to “tailor the needs of the local customer” and will feature an increased range of locally brewed beers, confectionary and snacks.

The company’s 129th store, the first Oddies outlet, opened at the end of last month in Tyne and Wear. If it proves a success, further outlets will be rolled out across the UK next year.

Managing director of Oddbins, Simon Baile, said: “We now embark on a new chapter in the life of Oddbins. Having now opened one new Oddbins store and launched the new website within the last three weeks, the addition of the Oddies format gives us even greater possibilities for growth of the business in the future.”

Oddbins also recently re-designed its website, a service which now provides “exclusive offers and small parcels”, from a range of 700-750 lines, including over 60 mixed cases.
