Sainsburys reveals new winemaker
Lucy Clements will join Sainsbury’s next month as the supermarket’s winemaker.
With a strong background in sparkling wine, Clements has worked at importer WaverleyTBS since last spring.
Australian Clements has a degree in oenology from the University of Adelaide and has made wine across three continents.
During that time she developed a particular passion for sparkling winemaking, having started at Domaine Chandon in Australia and culminating in a “much-loved” vintage at Champagne Taittinger.
Clements has worked as wine buyer and winemaker for WaverleyTBS since May 2009.
Speaking of the appointment, Justin James, category manager for beers, wines and spirits, said: “Lucy is a really talented young winemaker and I’m sure, working alongside Clem, they will continue to deliver a medal-winning wine range that offers fantastic taste, quality and value.”
Clements will work alongside Sainsbury’s current own label wines winemaker, Clem Yates.
