Pussers crowned best dark rum
A new award at Rumfest with an international panel has awarded one of its top prizes to Pusser’s rum.
As part of the Golden Rum Barrel Awards, some of the world’s top rum experts chose Pusser’s 15 year-old as the winner of the Best Dark Rum, Black Rum or Navy Style Rum category in the competition.
The new award was created by rum connoisseur Ian Burrell and is the only one at Rumfest where the drinks are judged by an independent panel.
Nor does the competition charge brands to enter, offering an equal chance to all companies both great and small.
With 22 categories, each of five rums, there was a wide variety of spirits from countries as diverse as Australia, Mexico, Panama, Venezuela and the British Virgin Islands.
Ben Pick, marketing manager for Pusser’s Rum, said: “To have beaten four other fine rums to get this award is a great tribute to the quality of Pusser’s 15 year old. To have been nominated by a panel of experts judging only by taste is the ultimate accolade.”
