Green and independent store opens in UK
A green-focussed wine retailer has opened in the UK with the aim of offering consumers “something a little different.”
Earth, Vine & Wine is the result of the acquisition of Krystyna Sykes Wines, which has been re-named and re-launched to reflect the retailer’s “eco-friendly ethics”.
The retailer has said it will provide “an eclectic range of organic, biodynamic and natural wines, made by winemakers who are passionate about their vines and their land,” adding that it now operates from a state-of-the-art, zero carbon office in Surrey and carries the strapline "Wines with Soul".
William Patton, who acquired the business, sources all the wines himself and has claimed that most of Earth, Vine & Wine’s range comes from producers who were not previously available in the UK, and that its selection tends to be produced on “a relatively small scale, from low-yielding vineyards where grapes are handpicked, organically or biodynamically grown.”
Patton said: “Consumers are seeking out food and drink that is produced naturally. Not only that, people realise that organic and natural products usually taste better.”
The retailer’s wholesale division already supplies a number of Oxford and Cambridge colleges as well as several on-trade outlets.
