Vinho Madeira to host Scots’ trade day
Vinho Madeira is hosting a day of tastings for all Scottish trade members as part of an educational campaign designed to raise awareness around the region.
The event will take place at the Boardrooms of the National Museum of Scotland in Edinburgh on 25 October, and is open to all wine trade folk wishing to expand their knowledge.
The day will begin with an open tasting for all members of the wine trade and press between 11am and 5pm. Wines from Henriques & Henriques, Blandy’s, Vinhos Barbeito and Justino will be featured, and some of the highlights include single vintage wines, 5, 10 & 15 year old wines, plus older vintage Madeiras that date back to 1982.
Following the open session, a series of specialised tutored tastings, led by Rose Murray-Brown MW will take place later in the day with a focus on the viticulture, history, and vinification practices of Madeira.
Sommeliers, restaurateurs and members of the press are invited to attend this dedicated masterclass taking place between 3 and 4.30pm. This session will be followed by a similar tutored tasting in the evening for wine retailers from 8 to 9.30pm.
The day will aim to educate all members of the wine trade on the various wines that originate from the Madeira region, providing all who visit with an opportunity to gain a detailed overview of the Madeira wine trade.
Spaces for masterclasses are limited, so early registration is encouraged for those wishing to guarantee a spot.
Whether you wish to attend the open session or a particular masterclass, contact Amy Batchlor at Westbury Communications to register.
