Tom and Ed Martin celebrate tenth anniversary
To commemorate the opening of their first pub in Clerkenwell 10 years ago, Tom and Ed Martin are celebrating with a week-long festival at all their London venues.
Running from the 15-21 November, the celebrations – all based around the number 10 – will see events taking place at the group’s eight pubs including quiz nights, tasting menus, a return to pricing as it was in the year 2000 and specially designed cocktails.
The group will be running a £0.10 sale at all sites except The Botanist, where selected food and drink will be served for a mere £0.10 for a set time every evening.
The Well will be serving the Y2K menu at year 2000 prices featuring the same dishes first served at the Martin’s original pub, such as braised lamb shank with garlic mash and rosemary jus (£9.50) and gammon terrine with fried quail egg and pineapple pickles (£4.50).
Parties of six or more at The Gun will be able to sample the 10 course tasting menu for £55 per person, which includes butter poached native Scottish lobster tail; seared Isle of Man king scallop with white beans; Sipsmith London gin and tonic sorbet; roasted breast of squab pigeon with braised leg and sautéed girolles; pan-fried veal sweetbreads and creamed morels in pastry; poached English plums with Coldharbour vanilla yoghurt; and Wookey Hole cave-aged truckle with quince and damson chutney.
All sites will be serving the ETM (Ed and Tom Martin) 10 martini during the week. Created by master mixologist Paulo Brammer it comprises homemade Preston Hall greengage jam, with fresh Granny Smith apple shaken with Tanqueray 10 gin, elderflower cordial and finished with a splash of ETM white wine.
In addition to the nightly activities, quizzes focused on the year 2000 will take place at a number of venues from 15-16 November, providing 10 winners with a £10 bar tab to use in a Martin pub of their choice.
– 15 November, 7.30pm, The Cadogan Arms, The Hat and Tun and The Gun
– 15 November, 8pm – Prince Arthur
– 16 November, 7.30pm – The Well
Finally, on 17 November Tom and Ed will be throwing a birthday party at The Well with complimentary food, drink and live entertainment for 30 winners plus guests.
