Savoy Grill opening delayed
The long-awaited reopening of London’s Savoy Bar & Grill has been delayed due to “structural issues”.
The Savoy has been closed for three years to undergo a £200 million refurbishment.
While the hotel will open on 10 October as initially planned, the restaurant will remain shut for a further seven weeks until 29 November, when it hopes to take its first bookings.
Gordon Ramsay Holdings, which operates the venue, released a statement saying: “The short delay is due to some small structural issues with the building, which have now been rectified.”
Once reopened, the restaurant, once a firm favourite of Sir Winston Churchill and Oscar Wilde, will have a capacity of 100 diners including a private dining room for 40 guests.
