Wine trade celebrates Grenache day
The wine world joined together in celebration last week as the industry marked Grenache Day.
While not an official celebration as far as international celebratory listings go, Grenache Day on Friday, 24 September, was embraced by wine merchants, wine buffs and restaurants across the world.
The Grenache Day Google map shows the extent of events that took place.
Restaurants in locations stretching from London’s The Orange to d’Arry’s Verandah Restaurant in McLaren Vale, Australia to Decanter Wine House, Jakarta, Indonesia, all celebrated the highly versatile grape through special Grenache-focused menus and carefully selected food pairings.
The grape, which finds fame and glory as a key ingredient in Châteauneuf-du-Pape, is present in six of the seven continents.
If you didn’t make it to any of the special Grenache dinners on Friday, consider it an excuse to drink a glass or two of a Grenache-based wine tonight instead.
