New Generation snaps up Stokes portfolio
New Generation Wines has strengthened its portfolio with the acquisition of Stokes Fine Wines’ business interests.
The collaboration, which came into effect yesterday, sees the addition of numerous producers from both the Old and New World to the New Generation line-up.
As a result, clients approaching either company will now have access to the other’s portfolio, although New Generation Wines will be handling all of Stokes Fine Wines’ UK business.
Producers of note include Waiheke Island-based winery Man O’War Vineyards, Churchill’s Port and Douro Valley wines and Umamu Estate from Margaret River.
This is in addition to New Generation’s existing portfolio, which includes Porcupine Ridge, Domaine Georges Burrier and Château Tricot.
Tim Parkins, managing director of Stokes Fine Wines, will continue to build and develop the company’s international business, while his fellow director Justin Liddle will join the board of New Generation Wines and split his time between both groups.
Stokes Fine Wines will also take a shareholding in New Generation Wines to guarantee long-term continuity and the “on-going relationship” between the two businesses.
Liddle said: “This is a hugely exciting move which will create an enviable portfolio of high quality producers, offering our customers improved service and support, while at the same time allowing Stokes Fine Wines to concentrate on its rapidly growing international trade. I am delighted to be playing a part in the future of both companies.”
James Booth, managing director of New Generation Wines added: “This transaction represents an important strategic step in the development of New Generation Wines.
“The combined customer base and portfolio reinforces our position in the key London on-trade and independent merchant sectors. We look forward to working with Justin, Tim and their impressive group of producers in the future.”
