Milller unveils Czech on-trade exclusive

SAB Miller, home to Pilsner Urqell and Peroni, is expanding itsportofilio with a new Czech beer aimed exclusively at the UK on-trade.

Kozel, meaning goat and with an abv of 4%, is being distributed solely to pubs and bars.

While a stronger 5% version has previously been stocked in Wetherspoon pubs, the new beer will be more widely distributed and accompanied by a comical marketing campaign centred around the pub and pub culture.

Within European brewing circles, the goat is tradiitonally associated with strength and the German Bock style beers.

But Kozel, brewed in the village of Velke Popovice since 1874, is a traditional Bohemian style lager – albeit one with a lower strength than usual.
