Corrigan’s burger ‘n’ beer

London restaurant Corrigan’s has launched a tasting menu that pairs beer and burgers from around the world.

The selection, made by head chef Chris McGowan, runs until the end of October, matching British and American beers with lamb, beef, venison and fish burgers.

The menu is served in the cocktail bar from 6pm and guests can choose any three of the five pairings for £25.

The pairings feature venison with duck egg and Hobgoblin, brewed in the prime minister’s Oxfordshire constituency and given by David Cameron to Barack Obama at the G20 summit in Toronto.

A reciprocal match sees hand-ground veal with smoked bone marrow paired with Goose Island IPA, a beer from Obama’s home city of Chicago, which was given to Cameron in Toronto.

Also on the menu is a squid and mackerel burger with chorizo and rosemary, accompanied by Brakspear Oxford Gold; Stephen Bull’s hand-ground beef burger matched with Brooklyn lager; and lamb with yoghurt, cucumber and mint with Innis & Gunn Original.
