Camino heads east

Camino is expanding its operation with a new venue in London’s Canary Wharf set to open later this month.

The new Puerto del Canario outlet will officially open its doors on 15 September with an evening of rumba flamenco from Jardares por Fuera.

However, consumers are being encouraged to visit the new bar during lunch and evenings until 14 September to sample the menu, with 25% off the bill.

As an added bonus, during this time Camino Puerto del Canario is offering db readers a free bottle of cava during their visit – just follow the link at the bottom of the page to download a voucher.

Using reclaimed wood, Andalusian tiles and Sherry barrels, the design is not dissimilar to the original Camino at King’s Cross.

However, the Canary Wharf branch is bigger with a restaurant and bar area with capacities of 60 and 150 people respectively.

The new site also has much in common with its sister venue in terms of its wine and food menus, but will have some more exclusive offerings.

Breaking the normal “all-Spanish” wine rule, the Canary Wharf outlet has bolstered its fine and sparkling wine selection with “Los Cañónes Grandes” – "The Big Guns”.

These include wines from top Spanish bodegas, with certain ones available in magnum, and also Champagne from Krug, Bollinger and Louis Roederer and English representation in the form of Nyetimber.

Being located on the waterfront means the Canary Wharf Camino has a larger outdoor space than its King’s Cross counterpart with 40 seats on the terrace.

Customers can arrive and depart by Thames Clipper at the adjacent Canary Wharf Pier until midnight.

Monday – Friday 12pm – 3pm and 6pm – 11pm

Saturday 7pm – 11pm
