WSET celebrates 400 new Diploma graduates

The Wine & Spirit Education Trust has seen a bumper 400 students complete its Level Four Diploma in Wines and Spirits.

In all, more than 7,000 candidates have now achieved the WSET’s flagship qualification, which provides an educational benchmark for the global drinks industry, as well as a standard stepping-stone to the Master of Wine exams.

Describing this year’s 11% increase on the class of 2009 as “an incredible achievement,” Ian Harris, chief executive of the WSET, said: “This comes on the back of an academic year that witnessed an equally impressive overall growth of 7% in candidates for all levels of WSET qualifications.

“The Diploma numbers and indeed those for the entire WSET portfolio of qualifications stand as testament to the dedication and commitment of the students, the centres who deliver our courses and my own team at the WSET.”

Having received their results in June, the 400 students will now be invited to attend the Awards and Graduation Ceremony on 17 January 2011 at the Guildhall in London.
