Top acts join Guinness party line-up
A host of big names have been added to the line-up to celebrate Arthur’s Day this September.
Guinness has announced that Brandon Flowers from The Killers, Plan B, KT Tunstall and Newton Faulkner will join already-announced acts Paolo Nutini, Snow Patrol and Sharon Shannon in entertaining fans in Dublin on 23 September this year.
The event, named after the man who signed the original lease on the St James’s Gate Brewery, went ahead for the first time last year to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the signing of the lease.
Arthur’s Day concerts will be held around the world at a number of locations.
In Ireland over 60 artists will perform at 30 venues in Dublin, Cork and Galway, from pubs to the main festival being held at the brewery itself.
Celebrations are being organised across the Caribbean and there will be a night of live music in Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia.
Festivities in the US start in Chicago where over 10,000 customers at Guinness’ Oysterfest will be encouraged to toast Arthur Guinness at 17:59 local time.
Brian Duffy, global brand director for Guinness, said: “Arthur’s Day is once again going to be a global celebration that will see performances from some fantastic acts and musicians across the globe.”
All proceeds from the events will go to the Arthur Guinness Fund, which supports young, underprivileged entrepreneurs.
