Enotria snaps up Great Western Wines
Enotria has bought wine supplier Great Western Wines for an undisclosed sum.
The UK importer has yet to give an explanation for the reasons behind the acquisition of Bath-based Great Western Wine (GWW), aside from the two companies “similar” philosophies.
It has been confirmed that the GWW shop in Bath will be retained as part of the deal under the new merged business, with all staff from GWW transferring to Enotria, providing Enotria with its first retail outlet.
GWW managing director Philip Addis joins the Enotria board as regional sales director under the terms of the deal.
Enotria chief executive Alison Levett said: “Like Enotria, Great Western Wine has been founded on a passion for wine, a portfolio of fabulous family wine estates and a total commitment to service, so I am extremely confident that we will have an exciting time working together over the coming years.”
Addis added: “This is a new and exciting era for Great Western Wine, its staff and suppliers.
“Philosophically, Enotria are surprisingly similar to us and together I believe we will be able to assemble the very finest and most interesting range of wines available in the UK. I’m looking forward to what will be a fabulous new challenge,” Addis added.
Addis is the second new member to Enotria’s board in as many months. Last month Enotria announced that ex-Majestic chief executive Tim How had joined the on-trade specialist’s board.
