Foodie festival at Spitalfields
Old Spitalfields Market in London is hosting a week long culinary celebration beginning on 19 July.
The event coincides with the launch of the OSM Flavours food court, which will provide a showcase for local, regional and international food and drink.
Next week will see Flavours taken over for free demonstrations by chefs from several of the market restaurants, including Le Bouchon Breton, Wagamama, Gourmet Burger Kitchen and Café Caribbean.
This celebration to establish OSM as a world famous centre for food will also see free tasting samples and special week-long offers from many of OSM’s bars and restaurants.
Malcolm Ball, chief executive of Wellington Market Company, which took over operations at OSM in February this year, explained how the event fitted his ambitions for the venue.
"Old Spitalfields Market is well known for its fashion, antiques and crafts, but there is shortage of market stalls that sell good food and drink produce – particularly during the working week", he said.
"Flavours will be concentrating on promoting affordable; best-in-class produce for everyone, not just a select few."
