2009 en primeur prices hit staggering heights
The frenzy surrounding the 2009 en primeur campaign has driven case prices to staggering heights.
Le Pin is selling in some quarters for between £18,000 and £20,000 a case, with Lafite not far behind on £13,500, Latour £12,500 and Ausone £13,000.
However, Le Pin’s production is only 7,000 bottles compared to Lafite’s 20,000 cases.
Farr Vintners recently sold out of Pétrus, which had been estimated at £15,000 to £30,000 a case.
These are prices that make even Margaux and Mouton-Rothschild at £9,000 and £8,000 respectively, look affordable.
