Wine boost at Paris exhibition
SIAL has announced that this year’s Paris exhibition will feature more than 200 exhibitors, producers and merchants due to the increased popularity of the wine sector.
The wine area was first launched at SIAL in 2006 and the last fair in 2008 saw a 50% increase in visitors.
To help visitors negotiate the enlarged wine section, organisers have decided on four themes to allow people to find what they want more quickly.
The themes cover wines that are particularly good value for money and grape varieties and their differences.
Adeline Vancauwelaert, SIAL group manager, said: “Helping visitors ’do their shopping’ and supporting exhibitors in finding the appropriate prospective customers makes sense. We are enabling them to optimise their return on investment in this way.
“The purpose of the event is to demonstrate to wine buyers that wine has a legitimate place at SIAL. We are working on the worldwide front where this support takes on its full meaning.”
This year’s fair will take place from Sunday 17 October until Thursday 21 October. Nearly 5,500 exhibitors from 101 countries will be present and 78% of the exhibitors are from non-French countries.
Over 100,000 visitors from 185 countries representing the retail and catering sectors are expected to attend.
