Truman beer back from the dead
In what must be the most unlikely comeback since Bobby Ewing stepped out of the shower in Dallas (it was all a dream), Truman beer is being brewed again.
Established in 1666, Truman, an east London icon and once one of the world’s largest brewers, was shut down in 1989 – a high-profile victim of rampant consolidation, mismanagement and neglect.
Nothing was left but the name but, thankfully, life has been breathed back into it. A new eagle has been added to the crest and the first Truman beer for more than 20 years is now being brewed at the Nethergate Brewery in the Stour Valley.
Adorned with a great-looking logo complete with a new Truman logo, Truman Runner is now available in a number of East End pubs and beyond.
