Rising Star joins Blumenthal team
The winner of the Champagne Jacquart Rising Stars Trophy 2010, Heather McKnight, will be leaving her role at The Harrow at Little Bedwyn to join Heston Blumenthal’s team for the opening of his second restaurant.
McKnight will assume the position of assistant restaurant manager at Blumenthal’s new restaurant when it opens in London’s Mandarin Oriental Hotel later this year.
Before McKnight starts her new position, she must complete an “intensive training” period at the molecular gastronomist’s Michelin-starred restaurant, The Fat Duck in Berkshire.
In April this year, McKnight won the Champagne Jacquart Rising Stars Trophy 2010 with her 16-year old colleague from The Harrow at Little Bedwyn, Jaillin Argent.
The competition is designed to recognise and reward up-and-coming on-trade talent in the UK, with a specific focus on the reciprocal respect a sommelier and chef must demonstrate for each other’s role.
An 8-page supplement on the full competition will be available with the July issue of the drinks business.
