MontGras releases bicentennial wine
Chilean producer MontGras has released a wine to celebrate the 200th anniversary of Chile’s independence.
MontGras 200 is a limited edition wine that uses two of Chile’s most famous red grapes from two of its best vineyard regions, Carmenère from Colchagua Valley and Cabernet Sauvignon from Maipo.
The wine was launched in May this year during a tour to Washington DC, New York and Boston.
Santiago Margozzini, MontGras’ winemaker, said: “It is an honour to create a tribute wine to commemorate the celebration of the 200 year anniversary of my country, especially with two such noble varieties like Cabernet Sauvignon and Carmenère.
“These varieties, along with their respective origin, give us the ability to capture the best of Chile in a bottle as this wine reflects the passion of its people and the character of an entire country.”
