Guinness set to party like its 2009
Guinness has announced another Arthur’s Day in honour of its founder Arthur Guinness to take place around the world on 23 September 2010.
The annual celebration, first held on 24 September 2009 to commemorate the 250th anniversary of Arthur Guinness signing the original 9,000-year lease on the famous St James’s Gate Brewery, raises proceeds for the Arthur Guinness Fund, which supports social entrepreneurs working to transform their communities around the world.
The celebrations will begin at 17:59 (GMT) in the party’s hub at the brewery in Dublin, where Snow Patrol, Jay Sean and Paolo Nutini are scheduled to play live sets.
Further events will be taking place around Ireland in Cork and Galway as well as across Europe, North America, Asia, Africa and the Caribbean when it reaches 17:59 local time.
Ronan Beirne, Guinness global marketing manager, said: “Arthur’s Day is a celebration with substance designed to recognise and honour the legacy of Arthur Guinness and the Guinness brand he brought to the world.
“We are excited to announce that we will be celebrating this again with people all over the world on Arthur’s Day, and I am personally looking forward to raising a Guinness on 23 September to toast a truly inspirational man.”
