Merchant merger unites FVD and The Vintry

FromVineyardsDirect completed its acquisition of wine merchant The Vintry last week.

As a result of the deal, the online merchant will absorb The Vintry’s concerns, including its listings and customer base, into its own business.

One of the founders of FVD, Esme Johnstone, told the drinks business: “The Vintry has 4,000 customers, interesting wines and they believe in the same values when it comes to customer service as we do.”

FVD, which has experienced a year-on-year 72% increase in sales from January to May this year, will now list The Vintry’s wines from properties such as Château Meaume, Domaine de Valensac and Château La Roca.

FVD is the collaboration of the inventor of Le Guide Hachette des Vins, David Campbell, and Johnstone, who is one of the founders Majestic Wine, Esme Johnstone.

The web-based company offers a limited range of wines from small growers as well as parcels of de-classified “gems”.
