Robinson discusses en primeur Bordeaux bargains

Jancis Robinson MW shared her views on Bordeaux 2009 in a brief interview with Berry Bros & Rudd buying director Simon Staples.

She said in the discussion, which can be watched on YouTube, that she was thrilled by the vintage but acknowledged that not all the wines were “fabulous – there were some failures.”

When asked by Staples what wines she would recommend at the cheaper end of the market Robinson picked out the cru bourgeois Château Capbern Gasqueton made by the Calon-Ségur winemaking team.
She also said of Calon-Ségur itself, “I thought Calon-Ségur did better with the grand vin than either Montrose or Cos. It had such purity and the lovely ripeness of the vintage.”
