JD makes music history

Jack Daniel’s is looking to make its own imprint on musical history with the launch of a new three month campaign this week.

The Tennessee whiskey brand has enlisted the services of top bands to recreate some of the most iconic tracks and albums from recent eras.

Artists including ex-Smiths drummer Mike Joyce, Tim Burgess, Shy Child, Infadels, Malcolm Middleton and thecocknbullkid will come together for week-long studio sessions to recreate the best of Human League, The Buzzcocks and Madonna.

Footage from these sessions will be screened on NME TV, Channel 4 and the JD Set website.

In addition May and June will see JD Set gigs take place in London, Manchester and Glasgow, supported by TV publicity, consumer advertising, digital media and activity in local bars.

Consumer competitions in various music and men’s magazines, as well as the JD Set website, will give a handful of fans the chance to witness the studio sessions at first hand.

Louise Snowball Jack Daniel’s senior brand manager, explained: “Jack Daniel’s has always been synonymous with music since the day Mr Jack himself formed The Silver Cornet Band in 1892 to draw crowds to Lynchburg.

“These days we’ve moved on from Mr Jack’s band to The JD Set but the aim remains the same. It is simply about bringing people together to share great music.”
