Hotel Rafayel brings eco-chic to Battersea

Luxury with a conscience arrives in London this week with the opening of the five star eco-friendly Hotel Rafayel. Located on “London’s new Left Bank”, aka Battersea, the hotel forms part of the Falcon Wharf Development.

By employing the latest technological developments in LED lighting, air conditioning and rainwater harvesting, Hotel Rafayel claims it will be able to knock 20% off the 70kg carbon footprint left by the average London hotel guest without compromising on luxury.

The hotel facilities include 65 bedrooms, 15 apartments, penthouse, conference facilities, bakery, Champagne bar, riverside restaurant, brasserie, florist, spa and gym.

The riverside restaurant, Banyan on Thames, boasts Michelin starred chef Carlos Ynigues who built his career in Barcelona. His menu promises a focus on fresh fish and authentic Indian cuisine, with the additional options of breakfast, weekend brunch and afternoon tea.

For something lighter, or just to kick back with a cocktail, the Crystal Bar promises to offer a modern, international addition to the Battersea scene.

Meanwhile the on-site bakery represents the first branch of MyChelle’s Baketique from Le Cordon Bleu trained Michelle Husseri. For anyone still riding the cupcake wave, they don’t come much cuter than these.

Handy for the London Heliport, the hotel also caters for less five star arrivals with a free shuttle service from Clapham Common tube station.
