Australia and India go head to head

Jim Barry Vineyards has joined forces with The Cinnamon Club and Cinnamon Kitchen to pair the best of Australian wine with some of London’s most stylish Indian cuisine.

The first event takes place on Monday 26 April from 6.30-8pm at Anise, the Cinnamon Kitchen’s bar in the heart of the City.

Aimed primarily at wine novices, for £25 a head guests can enjoy an informal tasting of wines from Vasse Felix,Yalumba and Jim Barry itself. The tasting will be led by Berkmann Wine Cellars, with canapés from head chef Vivek Singh.

Friday 21 May offers a more advanced affair: a £90 six course dinner at The Cinnamon Club in Westminster, featuring a selection of top wines and vintages from the Jim Barry portfolio.

Pairings include Tandoori “Herdwick” mutton rack with mint and onion sauce alongside the McRae Wood Shiraz 2005 and roast saddle of roe deer with sesame and tamarind matched with Benbounie Cabernet Sauvignon 2002.

Widely recognised as a pioneer for the Australian wine industry, Jim Barry founded Clare Valley producer Jim Barry Wines in 1959. His son Peter took over as managing director in 1985 and has continued to develop the business, particularly the export side, since its founder passed away in 2004.

Today Jim Barry Wines produces wines from four sites in the Clare Valley with an additional 14 hectare vineyard in Coonawarra.
