Wine Innovation 2010 is taking entries now
the drinks business is now accepting entries for its annual Wine Innovation awards, designed to recognise and reward the new and creative in the world of wine.
Among the many original products submitted last year was Drappier’s Brut Nature Sans Soufre – the first Champagne to be made totally without the use of sulphur.
The novel sparkling was an ambitious project for the well-known producer and required very careful grape selection in the vineyard, extremely gentle pressing and vinification entirely by gravity to avoid any oxidation.
The result was an extremely high quality Champagne which impressed the judges to such an extent Drappier’s entry gained a gold medal.
The producer also earned a bronze medal for its Blanc de Quatre Blancs – a modern Champagne made with ancient white grapes. This pioneering blend contained the Arbane, Petit Meslier, Blanc Vrai and – of course – Chardonnay grape varieties.
Do you think you can match Drappier for its innovative drive? Have you been doing something different in the vineyard or wine cellar? Then click here to enter Wine Innovation 2010.
