Qualia in Clink tie-up

Australian wine producer Qualia Wines (QWS) has confirmed a new strategic partnership with UK –based Clink Wines Ltd.

Comprising a consortium of Mildura based vignerons and business leaders, Qualia Wines purchased the assets of Neqtar Wines Pty Ltd in December 2009, resulting in a new, debt-free business.

A statement said: "The new partnership with Clink Wines is a reflection of the company’s three-pronged strategy to grow its branded portfolio in international markets, forge a joint venture partnership and develop strategic initiatives with a like-minded partner."

Established in 2008, Clink Wines services a number of off and on-trade customers, as well as regional wholesalers, dotcoms and independent specialists. In addition, the company sells to the USA, with Canada and Europe listed as new markets for 2010.

“We’re excited to be working with Clink Wines,” said John Pezzaniti, executive director of Qualia Wines. “As privately-owned businesses, our synergies are strong and we know that we will develop a strong, meaningful portfolio in the UK – one that is flexible, focused and innovative.

"Furthermore, Clink Wine’s focus on partnerships with global producers that help encourage sustainable grower relationships and their communities is something that is vitally important to us”.

With many of Australia’s wineries under foreign ownership, Qualia Wines says it is proud to be re-establishing and developing the assets of Neqtar Wines, as its shareholders form part of the Sunraysia community and hold a strategic belief in viably sustaining the community, its suppliers and all customers. Qualia Wines own two wineries near Mildura, at Irymple and Merbein.

Catherine Monahan, managing director of Clink Wines Ltd, said: "The partnership between Clink and Qualia Wines, provides us with exciting new opportunities to strengthen innovation and quality within a category that still has much to offer, but desperately needs a new injection of energy.”

The partnership will see the launch of 2 new brands, a number of exclusives and the strategic development of the branded portfolio of Qualia Wines, comprising Retailer Own Label products, Commissioner’s Block, Mid-Day, Calder Grove, Burke’s Rest and Little Eden.
