Nicolas Feuillatte launches new rose
Nicolas Feuillatte’s new 2004 rosé from its Cuvée 225 will be stocked exclusively at the flagship Laithwaites store in Vinopolis.
Pleasantly surprised by the continued popularity of rosé during the recession, the house’s cellar master, Jean-Pierre Vincent, came to Vinopolis to promote his new product launch.
Even though Vincent told the drinks business he was confident the rosé would be an even better seller than the Cuvée 225 Brut, the flagship Champagne which launched the range in 2005, he also admitted he had taken a bit of a chance with this rosé but it had turned out better than he had hoped. “I opened one of the bottles and sniffed and thought to myself ‘Wow, that’s good’" he admitted.
The Cuvée 225 range is so-called as the fermentation or maturation of certain wines is carried out in 225-litre barriques, in this case Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from the Grand Crus of Aÿ, Bouzy and Verzenay and Chouilly, Cramant and Avize respectively.
