Majestic announces new chairman
Simon Burke will step down as chairman of Majestic later this year, a position he has held since 2005.
His successor will be Phil Wrigley, former chief executive and chairman of fashion retailer New Look.
Until now, Wrigley’s career has been dominated by fashion, with positions at BHS, Dorothy Perkins and Debenhams.
Sir Stuart Rose and Sir Philip Green have described him as a real retail heavyweight.
Majestic chief executive Steve Lewis said of Wrigley: “His broad retail and property experience will be invaluable in continuing to grow the Majestic story.”
Lewis added: “I would like to thank Simon for the very significant contribution he has made to the success of Majestic over the last 10 years.”
Burke has also been a non-executive director of Majestic since 2000 and steps down on 6 August.
