Haiti appeal: wine auction
BoozeMonkey has launched an international auction appeal to raise fundsfor Haiti following the tragic earthquake earlier this month.
The Australian wine social network site is hoping to raise A$100,000 through auctions of wine as well as donations from across the wine world, with the campaign being supported by wine personalities such as Jancis Robinson MW and Tyson Stelzer from Australia.
Proceeds from the auctions or from donations will be distributed among charities including Oxfam, the Red Cross and WorldVision.
Talking of the fundraising initiative, BoozeMonkey CEO Marc Jardine said: “I don’t care if it’s a bottle of Blue Nun or a case of Grange, if you can spare some wine to help save a life, we want to hear from you.”
Jardine added: “Our generous winemakers donated nearly $10,000 worth of wine in one day earlier this week, that is amazing! But we need to ask everyone to lend their support. We have to act.”
