Waterkloof launches new restaurant

Waterkloof has become the latest South African wine estate to unveil its own restaurant.

Perched up on the Schaapenberg on the edge of the Helderberg region, the new gourmet pit stop promises impressive views across to False Bay and top notch dishes prepared by Michelin-starred chef Grégory Czarnecki.

Trained under three-star Michelin chef Alain Senderens, Czarnecki has since moved on from his Burgundian roots to cook in some of Paris’ leading restaurants, with clientele including everyone from Tony Blair to Woody Allen.

Speaking of his new role at Waterkloof, Czarnecki said: “Although stylistically diverse, each of the estate’s European-style wines carries a strong core of elegance and integrity and that is exactly what my food is all about.”

The 120-cover restaurant allows guests to enjoy the view sitting inside through the expansive glass frontage, or out on the balcony.

Sitting right next to Waterkloof’s state-of-the-art gravity flow winery, the restaurant then extends into the estate’s slick new wine tasting lounge.

The restaurant serves lunch and dinner from Monday to Saturday, and lunch only on Sundays.
