Smokin’ new Islay malt
The Leading Scotch Whisky Company has announced the launch of Smokey Joe Islay Malt Scotch Whisky.
The latest Islay malt is bottled at 46% vol and is non-chill filtered to enhance impact and flavour.
Islay malts take their characteristics both from the peat used to dry the barley and their closeness to the sea. These factors imbue the malts with a distinctive seaweedy and peaty flavour.
Business development director, Duncan Baldwin, said: “Smokey Joe captures the true spirit of Islay and showers the senses with smoke and peaty impressions and yet, overall, the consumer is left with a feeling of calm fulfilment, reflecting the balance and subtle complexity therein.”
Smokey Joe will be available in western European markets, the UK, US and selected Asian countries.
The consumer price is expected to be in the region of £26.99 in the UK and €29.99 in mainstream Europe.
