Rosado looks to the future

Rosé has been the only real positive news story for the UK wine category in the last couple of years and in a bid to find its place on the shelves Wines of Navarra hosted a seminar on "The Future of Rosé in the UK" earlier this week in London.

The panel included Sarah Jane Evans MW of BBC Good Food and Melissa Draycott of First Quench Retail who gave their perspectives into the category and some ideas on the possible gaps that Navarran rosados could look to fit.

Evans said: "Navarra has the potential to take ownership of rosado from Spain given its heritage and the attractive, fruit-driven dry styles of the wines.

"The on-trade could prove an excellent route for Navarran rosados to gain position in the market as an alternative to the customary apéritif of a glass of Champagne – especially for the thrifty consumer."
