Pod Bar shakes up wines by-the-glass
The Pod Bar, a new wine-by-the-glass cabinet from Bermar (International) Ltd, has been launched into the UK market.
Using Le Verre de Vin wine preservation system, the product’s developers highlight its flexibility, which allows the Pod Bar to be installed easily into existing venues, rather than just new on-trade projects.
The new system also outstrips much of the existing competition with its CO2 technology, which allows the Pod Bar to store sparkling wines, a key part of many venues’ by-the-glass offer.
Available from a single up to a four chamber ‘Quad Pod’, each chamber holds up to 10 bottles in a temperature controlled environment. The design, which can be fitted onto counters or shelf-mounted, offers an attractive, high visibility showcase for a bar’s wine range. The system also allows wines to be served directly in front of the consumer.
While the Pod Bar still represents a significant investment, this remains within the reach of a wide range of venues. A single pod can be supplied and fully installed for £1,995 plus VAT, with the price going up to £3,300 for the quad pod. By contrast, the Enomatic, for all its strengths, will set its purchaser back by roughly £1,000 per bottle position.
Adam Button, marketing manager for Bermar, highlighted the competitive edge offered by this latest innovation for the on-trade, saying: “The Pod Bar gives operators a degree of flexibility that simply is not possible with certain other cabinet solutions."
