New gadget to combat drink spiking

A new innovation from Guardian Drink Holders promises a solution to the widespread problem of drink spiking in UK bars.

It is estimated that the 600 cases of drink spiking reported each year in the UK represent just 16% of the total number of incidents. While women are the most vulnerable to having their drink spiked, 11% of the total incidents reported involved a male victim.

The new device is designed to be fixed to the back wall of a ladies’ cubicle or above the men’s urinals, providing a practical, safe and hygienic way for customers to keep their drinks with them at all times. The stable surface is also likely to reduce the number of smashed glasses left around the sinks.

For those with little desire to bring their drink into the fetid environment of their local establishment’s facilities on a Friday night, the Guardian Drink Holder also incorporates the latest SteriTouch antibacterial technology, capable of tackling MRSA and E-Coli.

The product, priced at £14.99 per unit, has initially been installed at Zebrano bars in London’s West End. Don Cameron, owner of Zebrano said: “All bars have a responsibility for the safety of their guests.

"We are dedicated to providing a safe atmosphere at both our bars and believe that Guardian Drink Holders are an active way of tackling this issue.”
