Mateus set for record ‘cheers’
Mateus is attempting to set a new world record for the biggest toast as part of its sampling programme at the Mayor’s Thames Festival.
More than 30,000 people attending the festival, which takes place on London’s South Bank on 12-13 September, will be invited to taste the full Mateus range, including the Portuguese brand’s sparkling wine.
On the second day, award-winning chef and TV presenter Simon Rimmer will lead visitors in the record breaking attempt.
As part of its festival activities, Mateus will also be creating its very own “Speakers Corner”, inviting people to propose a toast of their own.
Alvin Saal, brand manager for Mateus comments: “It is important to maintain momentum, especially as the summer months come to a close, to ensure the category remains front of mind with consumers all year round – not just in the warmer months.”
The Mateus stand will be located at Hibernia Wharf, close to Borough Market.
