Cognac writer’s award for db’s Patience

Patience Gould, our international spirits editor and editor of our sister title The Spirits Business, has won the first ever Cognac Writer of the Year award at the “La Part des Anges” charity auction and dinner, held in Cognac last week.

Nominees this year came from France, Germany, the US and the UK but, as head of communication and marketing at the Bureau Interprofessional du Cognac, Jérôme Durand, is keen to point out, the awards have been launched to reward writers, journalists and drinks trade professionals from every country in the world.

“Writers, journalists, bartenders, sommeliers, restaurateurs and educators are all crucial to helping the trade and consumers understand Cognac,” he said.

“The International Cognac Awards will be a way for us to recognise the passion and professionalism of these people.”

Passionate Cognac lover and expert, Salvatore "The Maestro" Calabrese, one of the world’s leading bartenders and whose performance arena is the glamorous Salvatore at FIFTY in London’s St James’s, was awarded Cognac Personality of the Year.

Both Patience and Salvatore received a personalised decanter of Cognac Extra, specially bottled for the occasion.
